First off want to apologize for my absence I have been in the middle of a horrendous PC and internet nightmare ,net was intermittent pc had a million to one conflict with sp 3 and my anti virus updates, for the second time in just over a week the then undiscovered conflict has killed my system. Causing MBR failure for the second time  During last weeks crash hubby thought it was my hard drive and decided he would help and transferred all my stored web page and blog files to an external hard drive unfortunately for some reason he renamed every folder and even duplicated some and renamed them too so I was in the middle of reorganization when pc died for second time  losing all new info now have to start again ,at least its taught me a few lessons, particularly backing up all important files to an external hard drive, and what a life saver Knoppix is, if you haven’t got a copy get one ,it enables you to get on your pc when windows crashes and burns and back up your info on to dvd. Needless to say this is not the post that I had intended to make that will have to wait for another day

The mantra of every died in the wool upcycler “Never throw anything away you never know when it may come in handy”….the very essence of  Upcycling and the few ideas below show you just how true that is

These  items mainly  arrived in my email not had chance to do much surfing of my own  just lately ,two really neat ideas that I just love and one that I.m not too sure about I think that my tastes are quite “cottage” and its definitely not that, My husband really likes this but then he would as it appears to be made from beer caps.

I think the key to this  craft is color coordination and placement and a connoisseurs palate for imported beer don’t think this project would have quite the same impact somehow done in my hubby’s faves James Ready and Labatts Blue. Now one that really does appeal to me both for dinning outdoors on the patio or even to use indoors above the table ,setting a romantic mood ,or for a more festive interpretation of the chandelier is to paint the little jars with glass paint in red green and white for  festive lighting for above the Christmas dinner table.

The next is probably the simplest  but in my opinion one of the nicest ideas its very cottage in a rustic kind of way and its totally free and hardly needs a tutorial , but credit where credits due to molly Irwin I would not of thought of the idea on my own but look forward to using it both in the summer months possibly embellished with a few dried flowers or at Christmas interlaced with a set of holiday lights.

Now speaking of lights this next project  appeals to me greatly its kinda retro which isn’t usually my thing, but I really would like to see one of these sat on my kitchen counter as extra task lighting, you could use a coffee maker or or even a popcorn popper both would lend themselves to this idea.This tutorial can be found at the Instructables web site together with many others on a variety of themes.

Shortly or as long as it takes to reorganize all my information on my pc I.m going to start posting my own tutorials on various topics some in the trash to treasure theme others more in relation to the skills and techniques I ‘ve learned and discovered during creating Pages from the Heart.

Ha fooled ya thought I’d gone didn’t you , well I had then I remembered another  email post I received just before “system failure” but knew where this one was had to include it as its a really unusual idea and  while your outside collecting twigs for stars also collect some fallen maple leaves there’s still lots around or at least there are here. I don’t know who originated the idea it came to me in the email with no text even just pictures but seems straight forward enough. Don’t know how long they will last and I guess you’ll have to use fairly fresh supple leaves, but one tip that may increase life expectancy of this craft project is I read somewhere that you can preserve leaves by ironing them between two sheets of grease proof paper (haven’t tried it don’t know if it works just thought I would pass it on)
