This is part 3 of the St Patrick’s Day Trio of tutorials it is a little gift box in which you may present the St Patrick’s day Shamrock bouquet brooch or if you didn’t do that tutorial, any other small item you may wish to gift. The gift box is created mainly from blue bin items. This tutorial is easily adapted for any occasion just change the patterned print

As always a full on line walk through of this tutorial is posted on the main Pages from the Heart home site it is always in your best interest to look over the walk through as many times small clarifications are added there but not included with print out as not everyone needs them.

Supply list
A st Patrick’s Day themed pattern print, if you don’t have one  I have included one with the download for the St Patrick’s Day  gift box tutorial.rtf

Apart from that a couple of card board boxes from your blue bin
A plastic aerosol top from blue bin (originally from Bug spray/hair spray/Cooking oil spray etc)
Scissors
white glue
Laundry pegs

left over print pieces from shamrock print pattern page or decorations of your choosing

This tutorial is an adaptation , of an adaptation of a “Pages ” tutorial I haven’t gotten around to publishing yet ,the original I will post within the next couple of weeks.

The reason I”m saying its an adaptation of an adaptation is I collect all kinds of small containers to save various decorative pieces in, that I use to make Pages from the Heart Gift Books, as many are just lids from such things as aerosol spray cans and all sit on open shelves things soon begin to look messy so I used part of a tutorial to create lids for my collection, as most of the aerosol lids are brightly colored already I just make up a lid in a complementing print

As you can see the decorated ones look much nicer on the shelf than just the lids but unfortunately once lids have been made it appears I can’t keep them for long as they soon decide they need to go and find a new home with a visiting friend.

I just goes to show that many things often consigned to the blue bin as useless can with a little effort become desired keepsakes and sort after pieces amongst friends and family members.

Some with even less effort than described in the above tutorial. Many of the goods we purchase come in containers that can make attractive gift packaging or valuable storage containers for a variety of items with just a little creativity , often with an eye to color co ordination what was once stored concealed behind closed doors can now be stored in plain sight inside a color co-ordinated piece of room decor.

You should always think twice before discarding things to the blue bin for recycling  even just plastic lids on their own are valuable pieces , the two white hard plastic lids you see in the picture make great  ready made tops for the aerosol lids all you have to do is add paper and decorate and you have a pair of very sturdy storage containers.
